The Junior Day Camp consists of:

Pre-K to Kindergarten  – (3-5 years old)

Note: Campers must be toilet-trained, independent in the bathroom, and be 3 years old by May 1, 2018.

Our Junior Pre-K and Junior-K campers gain self-confidence and foundational skills for lifelong learning through teacher-guided investigations and independent exploration. Campers collaborate and play together, engaging in hands-on learning with diverse instructional materials and child-friendly vocabulary.

Junior Pre-K (3.5 -4 year olds) campers enjoy the day with additional time for transitions to build independence. Junior K (5 year olds) campers can delve deeper and expand their curiosity through longer periods of structured play. With an experienced professional teacher and two select counselors per class, Junior Day groups maintain a low camper to teacher ratio, allowing a truly responsive, safe, and enriching environment where learning is happening all the time!

A regular day includes a familiar rhythm of indoor play, circle time, snacks, and outdoor activities. Campers will explore themes in art, science, math, literacy, and music. Junior Day provides both full and half day options for campers.

Jr. Camp Entering 1st Grade – (6 years old)

In Math, we will cover number recognition, hundreds chart skills, counting money, time to the hour and half hour, place value, and word problems. Addition and subtraction will be incorporated within these skills, too.

Activity Descriptions

Music and Movement – In this class, students will participate in games which will focus on coordination and balance. Additionally, there will be time spent on stretching and building flexibility. What is movement without music? Fun children's songs and music will be played to aid us in our movement.

Science – Junior Day campers will learn about life outdoors. They will explore animals, plants, and trees. Campers will participate in hands-on activities introducing them to the world of science.

Math Fun – Campers can expect to explore numbers, patterns, and counting in this fun Math class. They will have a hands-on opportunity to gain a greater understanding of each concept. Books and games will be used as a way to reinforce each concept as it is taught.

Sports and Games – Games geared towards building teamwork are the focus of this fun class! Campers will participate in games that will help them build endurance and coordination while reinforcing important skills such as following directions and good sportsmanship. Additionally, campers will have a chance to use a variety of athletic equipment.

Reading Fun – Junior Day campers will experience rich literature through big books, author studies, and early readers. Books will correspond to their thematic units. Campers will work on projects and activities related to the story to help reinforce the theme and encourage them to be excited about reading readiness and learning new words.
